Moving house can be one of the most stressful events in your life, but there are occasions when it’s the right thing to do. Here are 10 of the most common reasons why people choose to move.
1. One of the first moves any adult has is when they leave their parental home. Living with mum and dad is great but you won’t be able to convince most young adults that; moving to a new property will be many people’s first taste of independence.
2. One of the most popular reasons to move home is when a couple decides to live together for the first time. Its important to compromise with your partner over certain aspects of your new residence, you may be looking for slightly different things so try to find a happy medium that fits both of you well.
3. Couples will often look to move home when they get married or during the early years of their marriage, often in preparation of starting a family.
4. While convenient for many people, some people who live in rented accommodation often feel like they’re wasting money. Therefore it is a common desire to move from rented to property ownership. Taking out a mortgage on a new place is a very big commitment and its imperative that you ensure youre secure in your employment before taking on such a burden.
5. It can, however, take a long time to save a deposit for getting on the property ladder. As such, many people look to move when they have reached a target amount.
6. Families will often outgrow their home, so if you plan on having more children or your children are older and require more space it may be time for a move.
7. Families will also look for properties that are in a good location for the best schools in the area. For families, one of the main reasons to move to a new home is so the children fall into the catchment area of better schools.
8. Another reason people look to move is because the area they live in has gone downhill and they want to live in a better neighbourhood. Some neighbourhoods are not suitable for raising kids and should be avoided, check with local councils/authorities for information on your new local area.
9. If you have been offered a new job in a different part of the country, you may be looking for a new home as part of your relocation. Relocating the whole family can be a very trying experience especially with teenagers or young, however it can also be a great change of lifestyle.
10. When the children leave you may find yourself with more space than you need and wish to downsize to a more appropriate living space. When the children have flown the nest, there can be advantages, such as being able to let rooms to tenants, however this is not for everyone and many opt to downsize to an apartment or bungalow.
If and when you decide to move you will have to search through removal companies, find a new place, organise courier removal services and much more!
